Gingerbread

Spice and everything nice!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup molasses

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup hot water

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp nutmeg

2 tsp ginger

1 large egg (beaten)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

  2. Grease a 9” loaf pan and line it with wax paper.

  3. In a saucepan, gently heat the molasses, sugar and butter until the butter is melted then stir in the hot water.

  4. In a medium sized bowl, sift flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg together. Then stir in the egg, ginger and molasses mixture.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. Cool slightly on a wire wack.
