Gingerbread
Spice and everything nice!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup molasses
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup hot water
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp ginger
1 large egg (beaten)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Grease a 9” loaf pan and line it with wax paper.
In a saucepan, gently heat the molasses, sugar and butter until the butter is melted then stir in the hot water.
In a medium sized bowl, sift flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg together. Then stir in the egg, ginger and molasses mixture.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool slightly on a wire wack.
